Trip Overview

The morning began at Brooklyn Mississippi, Black Creek canoe rental around 9am. We set out on a 15 mile trip, that my wife and i wanted to do for our first solo trip.

The morning air was cool and clean, sun shining brightly onto this quiet somewhat mid. sized creek. We set out for our first land make which was three hours down stream. The creek was full of turns, and twists, we wondered if we had made a mistake to try this but we pushed forward.

Once we made it down stream the creek quieted a bit, but still fast moving with many things to get around. We seen only one other group of folks the whole trip. We stop at this quiet sandbar for the day after 5 hours of slow winding down the Black Creek to make camp.

Once set up I started to cook my wonderful wife a steak supper. Then we sat and listened to the creek and night actives sing to us. Up the next morning with a cup of hot coffee which my wife made I cooked some eggs and bacon for breakfast.

We broke camp and headed on down stream, thru the Desota Nat. Forest, where theres no boat motors of any kind allowed. We found this trip to be full of sights, fun to make and we are looking forward to making the 25 mile trip soon.
