Trip Overview

Excellent day trip from McIntosh Rd. near Brooks, GA to Hwy. 362 near Hollonville, GA

Duration: 4 hours.

River was 5.9 on Griffin gage-up 1-2 feet.
This helped us over numerous deadfalls until after Hwy. 16 where they became less frequent. Water moved at good pace, channel was well defined. No signficant hazards, only strainers and a garter snake in the canoe. Encountered an otter travelling upstream-beautiful sight.

Corridor is virtually undeveloped and scenic. A trip from Line Creek Road bridge to 362 would be an excellent afternoon paddle suitable for beginners. Access at Holonville Road is possible due to new waterline construction, but difficult. This section is probably best attempted at moderately elevated water levels.
