Pequabuck River in Connecticut

Trip Overview

This is a shallow, narrow, meandering little river that starts in a pretty, wooded location (Meadow Rd in Farmington), although much of it is through boggy swamp. We could only go upstream for an hour before hitting shallow, fast moving, riffle by Rt 6 in Plainville.

We did not go downstream, where the river flows into the Farmington River, on this trip, but we watched a canoeist head in that direction with his fishing gear.

All in all, it's a nice little paddle when you only want to be out a short time.

Directions:

I84 to Rt 4 in Farmington. Go south on Rt 10; turn right onto Meadow Rd (shortly after Miss Porter's School). The put-in is a short distance on the right.
